I am super late with this, but Maria is getting me to watch HawthoRNe and all it’s doing for me is giving me material for future!Sugar. And the thing about it is that it’s not even the daffy Sugar persona that we see on Glee that I look to for inspiration. I mean, I’m fairly certain that the real Sugar puts on a caricaturized front because she’s paranoid that if she doesn’t try to put on an act, she’ll slip and give herself away (that’s how I rationalize how completely off-the-wall she is as a character sometimes). But seeing Vanessa play somebody a little calmer gives me a better sense of where the real Sugar centers her values and what she holds dearly.
