the ships that i end up investing myself the most in are the ones where at first im like, “meh i guess i can see that” and then somewhere along the line my brain just fucking snaps and i cant control myself its like a demons possessed me and im going 900mph to hell
I’ve come to realize that Brittana never was about what the show made them for me. It’s always been about what the fans made them. Their relationship wasn’t ever about Artie, Finn, or Sam or (despite my guilty pleasure) Quinn- it’s about these two girls who love each other and that’s all that matters.
It’s about the fact that despite Santana being “mean” she still realizes Brittany is smart and despite the fact that Brittany is “dumb” she still realizes Santana isn’t all that mean. It’s about the fact that somehow those two traits blend together so well they make one another better people.
It’s not about how oversexualized the show made them with sex tapes. It’s about Halfrobotchicken’s 2859. It’s not about inappropriate fourth wall breaking comments. It’s about luckypressure’s fanart. It’s not about Santana not being the star of her own coming out story. It’s about MGMK’s “Bawlin” and Maya-verse. It’s not about “The Break Up”. It’s about CaliforniaLuv84’s reaction videos and Sugar from the Future. It’s about whatever we want it to be about.
The writers never really were the writers of Brittana. The fans were. We created them through infinite stories and AU’s, art. Brittana are in a thousand different worlds that fans created all with different beginnings and endings. We say how it ends, and it doesn’t does it?
remember how before santana even really came to terms with the fact that she was a) a lesbian and b) in love with brittany, she still fixed brittany’s hair after they had sex
